All rides start from Ayr Road Car Park. Turn left from car park and left again at traffic lights. Bear left at Burns Monument (0.5mile). Continue for 2 miles to crossroads and go straight through. Take first left in Tarbolton and cross on to main road. (Bachelor's club on left at junction). Continue straight through village.

Route A only - turn left at War Memorial at end of village. Folow through to T-junction (2 miles) and turn left. At cross roads turn right and follow through to Mauchline. Retrace to car park.

Route B / C - continue straight on to cross raods. Cross with care and descend to Stair. Cross River Ayr.

Route B bear left at junction at Stair Inn. Follow for 5 miles back to Mauchline.

Route C - bear right at Stair Inn and turn left after 0.5 miles. Continue straight ahead for 4 miles then turn left at crossroads (before main road). Continue to Ochiltree and descend to junction. Join main raod with care and continue straight ahead (signposted Auchinleck). At next crossroads (0.75 miles) go straight ahead. In about 1 mile turn left after right hand bend. At T-junction turn left and continue for 2 miles. (This will take you across the River Ayr). Near top of hill turn left then right at T-junction. Continue to Mauchline turning right to Car Park.

Any mention of Mauchline conjures up an image of Robert Burns. Many would argue that the two are synonymous. These cycle outings recognise this and youll never be far from a place with association with Burn's life or his writing.

This selection of inland routes offers views which remind you that the sea is not all that far away. The peaks of Aran often till your horizon. Inland and to the south you'll also see that the county has it's share of high hills, thre to be explored when you feel like cycling further afield.
