Troon Cycle Routes

All routes start from the Car Park at the Walker Hall on Troon sea-front.

Route A / B - head south along the promenade. Cross on to cycle lane on road and continue over railway bridge.

Route A - turns left onto cycle track immediately over bridge. Follow cycle route through to Prestwick. As you bear right after passing airport car park watch for right turn into new houses. Follow signs through to Prestwick Station. (Head down to sea front to continue south if you wish). Return along cycle route. At end of golf course turn right onto road. Continue straight ahead for .75 miles then bear left into park before houses. Emerge on to road and turn left (Ottoline Dr). Near end (at trees before main road) turn left. * Cycle down track and continue over junctions. At T-junction turn right and continue to car park.

Route B - continue straight ahead after crossing railway bridge. Follow road for over 1 mile to T-junction and turn left. Take first right and after 1.75 miles turn left. Follow to outskirts of Dundonald then turn left. Steady climb with great views at top. Descend with care to Loans and forward into Troon. Turn left into Ottoline Road then right as * above.

Route C - head north west round Troon Promenade. After about 0.5 miles watch for cycel route sign and turn right. Follow cycle route over new road at crossing lights. Continue round promenade on cycle track. After 1 mile turn right onto Kilmarnock Road. At T-junction turn left and bear left at roundabout. At next roundabout bear left again. After 1 mile watch for cycle route sign to right. Cross bypass by bridge and continue on cycle track. Turn left at road and proceed on cycle track to 2nd roundabout. Turn right onto Shewalton Road and continue to DRybridge. Turn right and cross dog-leg into Dundonald. Proceed through village and turn right after church. Turn left amlost immediately. Continue to Symington and turn left into Brewlands Road. Straight ahead for almost 1 mile then turn right. Cross main road with care and take first right (0.75 miles). Bear right for next 2miles then turn right and continue to Monkton. Turn left and straight through Cross. At main road cross with care to cycle track. Head north to Troon on cycle track.

Troon has benefited more than most with the establishment of cycleways. The predominantly coastal route from Prestwick to Barassie offers seven or eight miles of flat pedalling. But try our routes for variety.

They'll link you with interesting inland communities. Be prepared for some hills - which trade you great views for your efforts.
